The father of murdered 35-year-old Tam described her as an obedient and polite daughter who lived with and cared for her elderly parents, expressing profound grief and urging police to quickly arrest her non-Chinese boyfriend.
Tam shared a home in Sau Mau Ping with her parents after her older brother married and moved out, leaving the family of three closely knit until her tragic death.
Her father repeatedly praised her as an exceptionally good daughter—gentle, well-mannered, and always polite, habitually using phrases like "sorry" and "thank you" in conversations.
He emphasized her deep filial piety, noting how much he cherished her and how devoted she was to her parents.
On December 28, Tam tidied the flat before telling her mother she was heading out to retrieve personal items from her boyfriend's place and not to lock the door, as she would return shortly. That was the last time her family saw her.
By early morning on December 29, her 67-year-old mother realized Tam had not come home, could not reach her by phone, and reported her missing that evening amid growing worry.
The father spoke of the heartbreaking finality, saying she left and never returned, leaving him overwhelmed with sadness. He voiced strong hopes that police would soon apprehend the killer so his daughter could find justice.
The family had never met the non-Chinese boyfriend, with whom Tam had been in a relationship for only about six months, and remained unaware of how the couple met.
Tam previously worked as a hotel room attendant, starting early in 2025 but quitting in June due to the job's physical demands.
She had secured new employment at another hotel set to begin in January 2026, looking forward to a fresh start that never arrived.
Police discovered her body concealed between the mattress and bed frame in the suspect's unit at Hei Wah House, Lok Wah South Estate, on December 30 after forcing entry. The case is treated as murder, with the boyfriend the primary suspect.
The flat showed no obvious signs of struggle, suggesting cleanup afterward. Dead pets—three dogs and one cat—were also found inside.
The investigation continues under Kowloon East Regional Police for follow-up.
