Police have arrested three people connected to a subcontractor involved in the redevelopment and expansion of Princess Margaret Hospital after suspicions arose that forged calibration certificates for vibration monitoring equipment were submitted.
The detainees are two directors, surnamed Wang and Chen, along with one employee, from Novox Limited, suspected of using false instruments.
Police officers searched the company's office in Fo Tan to gather evidence.
The Hospital Authority discovered the issue during checks on certificates for vibration monitors at the Lai King Building project.
These documents were provided by subcontractor Novox Limited to main contractor China Railway Construction Group Co.,Ltd, which then forwarded them to the authority.
Verification revealed the certificates were not issued by the listed Guangdong Zhongzhenghang Metrology Testing Co., Ltd.

Viewing the matter gravely, the Hospital Authority reported it to the police, ordered the main contractor to suspend Noah Engineering's work immediately, and demanded a rigorous investigation.
The authority reserves full rights to take legal action against any breaches of hospital project contract terms.
The subcontractor involved also undertook similar works for four other hospitals—Kwong Wah Hospital, Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital, Grantham Hospital, and North District Hospital.
