Kowloon Funeral Parlour opens for public mourning of Tai Po fire victims on ‘First Seven Days’

Kowloon Funeral Parlour has opened its main hall for the third day for the public to mourn the victims of the Wang Fuk Court inferno. 

Tuesday marks the seventh day since the tragedy, also a significant date in Chinese mourning customs known as the  “first seventh”, when it is believed that the souls of the deceased return home. 

The morning atmosphere was solemn, with mourners holding white flowers, grieving as they paid their respects to the victims. 

The parlour has provided condolence books for the public to express their sympathies. 

Buddhist and Taoist chanting rituals will be held this afternoon, and the hall will remain open until 9pm.
