All 12 firefighters who were injured while battling the catastrophic blaze at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po have been discharged from hospital, the Fire Services Department said on Monday.
The inferno, which burned for more than 43 hours, left at least 146 people dead and 79 injured, in one of Hong Kong’s worst residential fires in decades.
Among the casualties was 37-year-old firefighter Ho Wai-ho, who died in the line of duty. The department previously confirmed that 12 other firefighters were sent to the hospital for treatment after sustaining injuries during the rescue operations.
A Fire Services Department spokesperson said all 12 have now been discharged, though no further details on their conditions were provided.
The tragedy has prompted widespread public grief and renewed scrutiny of building safety, emergency preparedness, and ongoing investigations into possible negligence or structural irregularities.
