Car mounts pavement after police chase in Hung Hom, driver arrested with drugs

A police chase in West Kowloon ended with a car mounted on a pavement outside Hung Hom Station on Monday night, leading to the driver's arrest and drug seizure.

Officers from the West Kowloon traffic first unit spotted a suspicious private car on Nathan Road near Cameron Road and attempted to stop it. The vehicle suddenly accelerated away, prompting a pursuit.

The car temporarily disappeared before officers relocated it on Austin Road. It then sped along Cheong Wan Road overpass toward Hung Hom MTR Station, where it lost control on a left bend near On Wan Road.

The vehicle crashed through approximately four meters of railings, mounted the pavement and collided with a stone wall before stopping.

Police arrested the male driver in his 20s without resistance. Officers found over 20 packets of suspected crack cocaine and more than 20 suspected etomidate tablets inside the car.

The driver passed breathalyzer and drug tests and was taken to a police vehicle for investigation.
