A Lexus car burst into flames outside a construction site in Jardine's Lookout early Monday in a suspected arson case.
Police and firefighters responded to the incident at around 1am on Moorsom Road and Moorsom Drive after passersby reported the vehicle was on fire. Crews quickly extinguished the blaze.
Authorities discovered a glove and a lighter near the scene, along with a strong smell of kerosene, leading to suspicions the fire was deliberately set.
Witnesses reported seeing someone park the vehicle outside the construction site shortly before flames erupted.
The car was found to be displaying fake license plates. The actual owner of the plate number, located in Sheung Shui, confirmed their vehicle was parked elsewhere and unrelated to the incident.
Photos from the scene showed the fire started at the rear of the vehicle.
