Man dies after residential fire breaks out in Ngau Tau Kok building

A man has died after a fire broke out at a residential unit in Ngau Tau Kok on Thursday night.

Police received multiple reports around 11:40pm of smoke coming from a flat at Lotus Towers, Block 2 of Kwun Tong Garden on Ngau Tau Kok Road.

Firefighters rescued an unconscious male resident from the burning unit. He was pronounced dead at United Christian Hospital after being transported.

Approximately a dozen residents self-evacuated to open areas downstairs during the firefighting operation. The blaze has been extinguished and firefighters have left the scene.
