Paulo Pong Kin-yee has been appointed chairman of the M+ Board at the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, effective October 9.
His term will run until March 31, 2028, or until he ceases to be a member of the Authority's Board, whichever comes first.
Outgoing M+ Board chairman and Authority chairman Bernard Charnwut Chan praised the museum's recent international exhibition achievements and expressed confidence that under Pong's leadership, M+ would reach new heights and enhance Hong Kong's influence in the global cultural sector.
Pong thanked the Authority for its trust, saying he believed M+ and the entire West Kowloon Cultural District could continue playing a leading role among top global cultural institutions.
The Authority also appointed Peggy Yeoh Lee as a member of the M+ Board, with her term running from July 28 to March 31, 2027.
Pong, 48, is the grandson of late steel tycoon Pong Ding-yuen and founder of major wine merchant Altaya Group. He currently serves as chairman of Ocean Park Hong Kong and is married to Sonia Cheng, executive director of New World Development.
