The visit highlighted Hong Kong’s unique position under the "one country, two systems" framework, which bridges mainland China and international markets, and introduced the GoGlobal Task Force, a new initiative to support businesses in their overseas ventures.
On the first day, Lau met with Dongguan’s mayor and other senior officials to discuss how Hong Kong’s financial and legal strengths complement Dongguan’s advanced manufacturing sector, a key part of the Greater Bay Area.
The recently announced 2025 Policy Address outlined the creation of the GoGlobal Task Force, which integrates various Hong Kong offices to provide tailored solutions for companies aiming to expand abroad, particularly those in Dongguan.
That afternoon, Lau attended an exchange meeting focused on capital investment synergies between Dongguan and Hong Kong, organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong and local partners. The event drew over 100 representatives from businesses and media.
Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Dongguan Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of the Dongguan Municipal People's Government, Zeng Jianpeng, emphasized the city’s goal to build a capital market cluster centered on innovation and technology, with Hong Kong as a top choice for overseas listings. Presentations by Invest Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited highlighted the city’s business advantages and capital market developments, while professional firms discussed leveraging Hong Kong’s financing ecosystem for global growth.
On October 10, Lau visited the Songshan Lake High-Tech Zone, following a cooperation agreement signed in August, to meet with enterprises and the zone’s administration.
She promoted the GoGlobal Task Force’s support for cross-border fund management and global network expansion and introduced Hong Kong’s Northern Metropolis as a hub for innovation.
Lau also toured major facilities, including Huawei Town and the OPPO Smart Manufacturing Centre, encouraging companies to tap into Hong Kong’s innovation ecosystem.
On October 11, she will meet a leading semiconductor company to discuss enhancing its global strategy through Hong Kong’s platform.
