Foreign domestic helper hospitalized after being struck by falling bough in Kowloon Bay

An Indonesian domestic helper was hospitalized after a large tree branch broke off and struck her on the head in Kowloon Bay on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at around 11.32am outside a building in Kai Yip Estate, when a branch approximately six meters long snapped from a tree about 10 meters tall.

According to sources, the 37-year-old woman was sitting on a metal bench in the park when the branch hit her head.

Fortunately, the branch partially landed on the bench after falling, which is believed to have absorbed some of the impact and prevented more serious injuries.

The victim, who was found unconscious, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment, where she later regained consciousness.

Police officers and Housing Department staff have cordoned off the area for safety inspections.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
