Strong winds caused scaffolding to become dangerously tilted on Waterloo Road in Mong Kok early Wednesday. The bamboo scaffolding was installed for construction work at the exterior of Cambridge Court at 84 Waterloo Road when its top section tilted under powerful winds, creating potential falling hazards.
Firefighters and police officers arrived at the scene and fully closed the affected section of Waterloo Road. Emergency personnel are assessing whether the scaffolding poses immediate danger.
The Hong Kong Observatory indicated that according to current forecasts, Ragasa will be closest to Hong Kong within the next one to two hours, passing about 100 kilometers south of the territory. With Ragasa's broad circulation, hurricane-force winds are expected to continue affecting parts of Hong Kong. The public is urged to remain highly vigilant against destructive winds, as the No. 10 hurricane signal will remain in effect for some time.
