The case was reported by staff at the company’s Wan Chai branch, located at 162 Johnston Road, around 12.20pm today.
Sources indicated that the management of the company conducted a check through the company system on Tuesday (Sep 9) and discovered that the Wan Chai branch had reserved 198 iPhone 16 units for an extended period.
The manager involved, surnamed Wong, was questioned about the situation. He explained that the phones had been reserved for customers and claimed the batch had been sold by the following evening.
However, no record of the sale was found in the company’s system as of today. The company also received a text message from Wong admitting to stealing the phones before he went missing.
The case has been listed as theft and is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Team in Wan Chai Police District.
