Eight injured in a head-on collision between double-decker and van in Sau Mau Ping

A Citybus operating on route 601 crashed head-on with a van in Sau Mau Ping on Tuesday, leaving eight injured.

The accident occurred around 4 pm when the double-decker bus, traveling toward Po Tat along Sau Mau Ping Road, collided with a van near the junction of Po Lam Road.

The eight injured -- including the bus driver, five bus passengers, the van driver and a passenger -- were sent to the hospital for treatment.

A Citybus spokesman stated that the collision was caused by the van failing to comply with traffic signals.

The bus company will assist the police with further investigation.
