The government announced on Friday the timeline for upcoming by-elections to fill vacancies in the city's Election Committee.
Nominations will open on July 22 and close on August 4, with potential voting scheduled for September 7 if required.
The by-elections aim to fill vacancies, including 93 elected seats across 28 professional subsectors, plus 10 appointed seats that will be filled through nominations by designated organizations.
Prospective candidates must meet several eligibility requirements, including being registered voters aged 18 or older with connections to their chosen subsector. Each candidate needs nominations from at least five registered voters within their subsector, with strict limits on how many candidates each voter can nominate.
All nominees must undergo additional vetting through the Candidate Eligibility Review Committee, submitting supplementary information forms as part of the application process. The committee will examine each candidate's qualifications before approving their participation.
Nomination forms are available at district offices throughout Hong Kong and on the official government election website. The Registration and Electoral Office has established a hotline (2891 1001) to handle public inquiries about the nomination and election process.
