Observatory cancels all Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals

The Observatory has canceled all Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals at 3.40 pm.

The forecaster said that Tropical Depression Wutip had continued to depart from Hong Kong over the past few hours, and local winds had also moderated progressively. 

However, under the influence of the southwesterly airstream to its south, local winds will still be occasionally strong for the rest of Sunday, reaching gale force on high ground. 

In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Ngong Ping, Waglan Island and Green Island were 68, 52 and 50 kilometers per hour with maximum gusts exceeding 88, 57 and 60 kilometers per hour respectively.

At 3 pm, Wutip was estimated to be about 380 kilometers north of Hong Kong and is forecast to move northeast or east-northeast at about 38 kilometers per hour across Jiangxi, weakening further.

With the southwesterly airstream becoming active in the next couple of days, there will be occasional heavy showers over the coast of Guangdong on Monday and Tuesday.
