The water supplies to Fung Tak Estate and Bel Air Heights in Diamond Hill have been restored overnight, with the westbound lane and eastbound expressway lane reopening in the early hours on Sunday morning.
This came after a 450mm water pipe on Fung Tak Road ruptured at around 7 pm last night (May 17), triggering an emergency freshwater suspension for nearby residents that lasted several hours.
The Water Supplies Department has deployed a team to restore supplies throughout the early hours on Sunday.
For Yan Oi Building, Yin Hing Building, Kai San Mansion, Fung Wong New Village and some residential units on Sheung Fung Street, the water supply disruptions began around 9 pm on Saturday (May 17) and were subsequently restored overnight.
Kai Chuen Court also experienced a brief water shortage at around midnight of Sunday, which lasted until 1 am before supplies were restored.
Lung Poon Court experienced water shortages at around 9.30pm on Saturday night. After emergency repairs throughout the night, supplies in have been completely restored at 6 am on Sunday.
After hours of repairing, the westbound lane on Fung Tak Road was fully reopened at approximately 5 am on Sunday, while the eastbound expressway lane reopened at 8 am.
Crews are working around the clock and aiming to reopen the eastbound slow lanes before Monday (May 19) to minimize heavy traffic during rush hours.
