In a significant boost for Hong Kong travelers, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu announced on Monday that Hong Kong SAR passport holders can now enjoy visa-free entry to Qatar for up to 30 days.
The new policy, effective immediately, replaces Qatar's previous visa-on-arrival system, marking a major step in facilitating easier travel between the two regions.
The visa liberalization came as Lee concluded a productive visit aimed at strengthening Hong Kong-Qatar relations. Beyond the travel convenience, the trip yielded 35 cooperation agreements spanning economic, technological and financial sectors.
Notable achievements include an investment promotion pact between both governments, commercial deals supporting financial services and advanced manufacturing, and a trilateral fintech cooperation agreement involving Hong Kong, mainland China and Qatar.
