A 66-year-old driver died after his garbage truck crashed the overhead signage on San Tin Highway on Tuesday.

The fatal crash occurred around 1 pm when the vehicle was traveling along the highway towards Sheung Shui. The driver, surnamed Wu, lost control of the truck when approaching the San Tin Interchange and rammed into barriers before hitting the motorway gantry signs.
Sustaining serious head and multiple body injuries, Wu lost consciousness and was trapped after the accident. He was later rushed to North District Hospital but succumbed to his injuries at 1.53 pm.
As of 3 pm, San Tin Highway near San Tin Interchange continues to experience partial closure to all traffic. The bus services traveling via the highway (Sheung Shui bound) have also been affected.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
