The magnificent celebration on Kam Wa Street was organized by the Hong Kong Vegetable Food and Grocery Hawkers Welfare and Fraternity Association.
Despite the scorching sun, the enthusiasm of the citizens remained undiminished as the ceremony started around 10 am. The street was lined with crowds eagerly watching the lion and dragon dances.
Some families joyfully approached the 120-foot-long golden dragon and 13 lions to touch them, symbolizing receiving good luck.
A resident of Shau Kei Wan, surnamed Cheung, said she participates in the celebration of Tam Kung's birthday every year. This year, she wishes for everything to go smoothly without setbacks.
Lui, another resident, said she enjoys watching lion dances and that today's atmosphere is excellent. She noted that she was over the moon as she managed to touch the lion's head.
The large-scale celebratory parade lasted for 7 hours from Shau Kei Wan Main Street East to Tam Kung Temple, offering birthday wishes to Tam Kung.
The organizers also prepared two special flavors of Tam Kung cakes to offer to the public free of charge, symbolizing good fortune for everyone.
