Cabby and family rescued after being trapped in taxi hit by fallen tree

A 42-year-old cabby was glad that he only sustained slight injuries to his limbs after a tree outside Aberdeen Wholesale Fish Market fell onto his taxi on Tuesday night, trapping him and his wife and daughter who remained unharmed.

The incident occurred around 9.56 pm last night as the Amber Rainstorm Warning had been in force since 9.30 pm.

After the tree fell, the trio were trapped inside the taxi for a while and were later rescued by first-responders called to the scene by drivers passing by.

The cabby surnamed So sustained slight injuries to his limbs and did not need to be hospitalized.

According to live sources, the trio were heading home to Tin Wan Estate after having dinner outside.

The cabby also revealed that he only rented the taxi and will provide offerings to ancestors for their blessing which helped his family make it through the incident.

Traffic was busy during the incident as there was a lane closure to all traffic along Aberdeen Praya Road (Pok Fu Lam bound) near Aberdeen Wholesale Fish Market.
