New World Development has introduced an employment enhancement program targeting local full-time mothers to offer pre-employment training, job matching and household finance management.
The program, named “Future Mumpowered”, was in collaboration with Manulife and supported by 14 local companies as well as six non-profit organizations. They promised to create flexible job matching, customized employment training and a family-friendly work culture for the workforce reentry of women.
Manulife introduced MPF rewards to motivate full-time mothers to develop their potential beyond the family. Eligible participants can receive MPF rewards upon completing job matching and program activities.
Pacific Coffee, one of the participating companies, offers a “Mum Shift” for women which is a three to four hour day to let them handle household chores along with picking up children from school.
Other supporting companies also implemented friendly measures such as hybrid work modes and parent-child activity allowances to create an ideal work environment for women.
The inauguration ceremony of the employment enhancement program was held last Thursday (Apr 25).
Speaking at the ceremony, the director of Social Welfare Charmaine Lee Pui-sze said she is pleased to see the business sector actively promoting a family-friendly environment to help unleash the potential of the female workforce.
