A worker was rescued after his leg got trapped by a machine causing his foot to be crushed on a Kowloon Tong building site Tuesday morning.
Shortly before 11 a.m. today, a 60-year-old worker who was on duty at the building site, opposite the City University of Hong Kong student accommodation on Tat Hong Avenue in Kowloon Tong, had his left leg trapped by a machine.
He was rescued by firefighters who were called to the scene after his colleague had contacted the police for assistance.
The worker suffered a fracture to his foot but remained conscious while taken to hospital.
The police have identified this incident as an industrial accident and have transferred the case to the relevant authorities for follow-up.
It is understood that the building site is for four multi-story student dormitories for Hong Kong Polytechnic University and is located on Tat Hong Avenue in Kowloon Tong, on the hillside opposite Beacon Hill.
The construction started in May last year and is expected to be completed in 2028.
The four buildings are 9 to 15 stories high with a total floor area of approximately 50,200 square meters, providing an additional 1,680 dormitories, as well as outdoor open spaces for students.
