Around 3.30 am today, a shirtless foreign man was seen using a metal signpost to smash the 2.5-by-1-meter glass door of the HKCEC open and enter into the area.
Security guards contacted the police for assistance, who came and apprehended him, arresting him on-site.
According to live sources, it is understood that the 30-year-old man claimed to be an American tourist, but the officers were not able to find any identification documents on him.
Due to the stench of alcohol, it is believed that the incident was caused after he had got drunk.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
During the arrest, he was suspected of bruising his neck and arms and was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital in an ambulance for treatment.
In addition to one glass door being smashed, another glass door is also suspected to have been violently torn off, leaving glass fragments strewn across the floor.
The case has been handed over to the Wan Chai police district for follow-up.
