Late TV journalist Ryan Lau Chun-kong will not have a high-profile funeral, according to his family, who want to send off their loved one simply and peacefully.
The news came on the same day as the former television news reporter and anchor’s family and friends identified Lau’s body at the Fu Shan Public Mortuary on Monday.
His family wrote on Lau’s social media page today that a low-key funeral will be held and that they will not comment on news related to Lau’s death.
“It is with great sadness that I inform you that our beloved Ryan passed away on January 4……Lau has always been a hardworking, kind, energetic, and positive person, and we can only imagine the struggles and pain he must have experienced leading up to his decision to leave us."
“As his loving family and friends, we can only mournfully accept this reality.” The post also urges people to give Lau’s family and friends space to grieve.
The post also called on those emotionally troubled by the tragedy to seek professional help.
Lau was reportedly 42 years old when he died.
