The incident occurred shortly after midnight when a route 969 Citybus and route 961 KMB bus were traveling along Connaught Road Central in Sheung Wan.
The Citybus slowed down as it approached the stop opposite Shun Tak Centre and the following KMB bus suspectedly failed to apply the brakes and rammed into the rear end of the Citybus.
The Citybus was then pushed forward into the bus stop’s canopy. Luckily, citizens waiting at the bus stop dodged in time and none were injured.
Both bus captains as well as five passengers onboard the two buses sustained minor injuries. All were sent to hospital.
After the collision, the Citybus sat in the middle of the road and blocked two driving lanes. The KMB bus also blocked the fast lane on the right. As firefighters rescued all passengers onboard, police officers then pushed the KMB bus to clear the fast lane.
Police are now investigating the cause of the incident.
