Kent Luk Ka-jeep, the founder of HK Paws Guardian, said the group learned about the page about three days ago and has traced the location of the self-proclaimed food wholesaler involved.
Luk said it was suspected that the shop is a warehouse located in a village in Heung Yuen Wai and urged the police to follow up on the incident.
He said the situation was extremely worrying and added that as more people from the mainland emigrated to Hong Kong, it might have also brought along their culture of eating cat and dog meat.
On the post promoting the sale of dog meat, many netizens were outraged and tagged the police and authorities' social media pages to ensure they were alerted to the page.
This was not the first case of dog or cat meat selling in Hong Kong. A 40-year-old man was jailed for ten weeks in April this year after it was revealed his shop in Yau Ma Tei had been selling cat flesh for food.
