Rosaryhill students request help from John Lee to reverse their fate

Students from the Rosaryhill School, which is set to be closed three years from now, posted an appeal video on Thursday to the Chief Executive, John Lee Ka-chiu.

In the video that was posted on the school's YouTube channel, students were seen reading their open letter to the Hong Kong leader, requesting the government to intervene in the decision of the school sponsoring body.

At the end of the video, around 50 students say, "Please help us."

A student representative pointed out that many of them began to study in Roasaryhill in kindergarten or primary school, and it is akin to their second home and being able to be harmonious despite the difference in backgrounds.

They hoped that the government and the Education Bureau can reevaluate the school's situation, provide the displaced students with a new campus, and allow them to learn in a familiar and stable teaching environment.

Alumnus Eva Charisa Hsu, also the principal of Fukien Secondary School Affiliated School, stated that the video saddened the alums. However, she said that it was very likely the decision could not be overturned and urged the students to focus on their studies.

Parents were also disappointed by the attitude of the governing body, Dominican Missions, along with the EDB's refusal to meet with them. They are currently searching for a judicial opinion regarding the incident.

The EDB stated they were very concerned about the incident and urged all sides to focus on the wellbeing of the students as the main priority, adding that the school's governing body had the duty to maintain contact with all stakeholders.

EDB added that it was hard to fulfill the requirement of creating a new campus for the displaced students as land and campus are valuable resources and cannot be handed out easily.
