The Observatory said Tropical Cyclone Haikui has entered within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong and will consider issuing the Standby Signal, No. 1 tomorrow morning (Sept 4).
At noon, Severe Typhoon Haikui was centered about 170 kilometers east of Kaohsiung and was forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometers per hour in the general direction of Taiwan.
According to the present forecast track, Haikui will enter the Taiwan Strait tomorrow and then move towards the vicinity of the coast of eastern Guangdong to southern Fujian.
The weather watchdog said that Haikui will bring showers to eastern Guangdong in the middle and latter parts of this week, but its movement remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, at noon, Tropical Cyclone Saola was centered about 150 kilometers northwest of Haikou. It is forecast to move southwest slowly across the vicinity of Beibu Wan and continue to weaken.
