A man reportedly fell 50 meters to his death from Lion Rock on Wednesday night.
Police said they received a report at around 9 pm yesterday with the caller claiming to have heard a call for help when taking photos near the “lion head”, the caller suspected someone might have fallen down the hill.
Firefighters and Government Flying Service helicopters were called to the search, which took them two hours before they located the man 50 meters down from where he had reportedly fallen. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Given the terrain, firefighters were only able to retrieve the man’s body at around 4 am.
It is understood that the man with short hair was aged between 30 to 40 years old and of a large build, no forms of identification were found on him.
An investigation is ongoing.
