A 56-year-old man from the United Kingdom who had received three doses of Covid-19 vaccines tested positive for the L452R variant.
He was also the only imported case reported by Hong Kong authorities on Sunday.
The man arrived from the UK via flight BA027 on November 1 and was confirmed positive during quarantine at the Four Points by Sheraton Hong Kong in Tung Chung.
He had received two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the UK on February 13 and April 27, followed by another dose of BioNTech vaccine in the same country on October 31.
In addition, the Centre for Health Protection has received an update on Saturday afternoon from the Singaporean health authority that one case it confirmed earlier ends up to be false positive.
The case, announced by the CHP on October 31, involved an 18-year-old man who lived at Ching Tak House, Tsz Ching Estate in Tsz Wan Shan. It was classified as a case confirmed overseas.
As the man tested negative in a repeated test, the relevant close contacts have been released from quarantine.
