A man was found guilty at the District Court today for rioting during the social unrest in Causeway Bay and Wan Chai on August 31 last year, while six others were acquitted of their charges.
The man Chan Cho-ho, 24, was said to be wearing protective gear, black clothing when he was arrested. He was also carrying a helmet, a gas mask and a walkie-talkie.
He was convicted of rioting and possessing a radio apparatus without a valid licence.
The District judge said although the six others were wearing clothing similar to the rioters on scene at that time, without further evidence, there is no proof beyond reasonable doubt to convict them of rioting.
Chan was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on January 18 next year.
