A Sanofi spokesman has said the influenza vaccines in Hong Kong are of a different batch than the ones in Korea.
Deaths after flu vaccination keep rising in South Korea, with Singapore taken the precautionary measure of suspending two shots given to people who later died, including SK Bioscience’s SKYCellflu Quadrivalent and Sanofi Pasteur’s VaxigripTetra.
In a statement by Sanofi, it said 550,000 flu shots had been delivered to doctors in the city, and the shots are of a different batch than the ones used in Korea, in which some people experienced adverse effects or even died after receiving the flu shots.
The Sanofi spokesman pointed to The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency’s investigation, stressing that the agency's probe has confirmed no link between their vaccines and the deaths.
The spokesman added that all their vaccines are manufactured under strict quality control conditions, passing international standards. They have also not noticed any safety issues aroused from their vaccines during the 2020 northern hemisphere influenza seasons.
