A 21-year-old woman reported that a Van Cleef & Arpels luxury watch worth about HK$838,000 went missing from her hotel room at The Peninsula Hong Kong in Tsim Sha Tsui on Thursday morning (Jan 15), prompting a police investigation.
Police were alerted at around 10.55am after hotel staff received the report.
According to sources, the woman had visited a bar at California Tower in Lan Kwai Fong with a female friend in the early hours, where they met three men — two Caucasians and one North African.
Around 4am, she returned to her hotel room with the three men and continued drinking. She placed her Van Cleef & Arpels “Lady Arpels Pont des Amoureux” watch by the window before falling asleep.
When she woke up in the morning, both the watch and the three men were gone. She immediately sought assistance from hotel staff. The suspects are aged between 20 and 25.
Police are investigating the case as a suspected theft.
