Woman died alerting neighbors in Tai Po fire, saved 5 lives

A woman died in the Wang Fuk Court fire while alerting neighbors to escape rather than fleeing immediately, with her family believing she "had no regrets" about saving four people and one dog at the cost of her own life.

Family members posted on social media that the woman, upon receiving evacuation notices, chose to knock on doors along the 17th floor to warn neighbors instead of exiting directly. After returning to her unit, rapidly intensifying smoke and flames prevented her escape.

The family described her actions as consistent with her life principles, noting while grieving their loss, they believe she made her final decision without hesitation.

Online tributes flooded in praising her as a "true hero" whose "noble actions deserve respect," with many expressing condolences to the family and gratitude for her bravery in saving others during the five-alarm blaze that has killed 146 people and injured 79.
