The University of Hong Kong (HKU) on Tuesday (Oct 14) unveiled its blueprint for the next decade in guiding its direction for growth and development.

The strategic framework, titled "Vision for 2026-2035: Leadership for Impact," outlined three missions.
The University said it aimed at transforming itself by fully exploiting and exploring artificial intelligence (AI), including "deeply embracing digital teaching and learning" and making good use of generative AI to improve operational efficiency and service.
The missions also include attracting, nurturing, and inspiring future leaders to create knowledge, address global challenges, advance humanity, and promote sustainability and leveraging its unique heritage and global position to connect and influence both the East and West through an extensive network of intellectual hubs.
"HKU is committed to embracing a truly international perspective in all our endeavours in a rapidly evolving global setting, demonstrating greater agility and adaptability. Our approach is driven by bold ambition, proactive initiatives, and a clear focus on achieving meaningful goals," said Professor Zhang Xiang, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKU.
"As HKU approaches its 115th anniversary, this vision delineates again the University's dedication to academic excellence and societal contribution," he added.
HKU also held the Innovation Week 2025 Exhibition, a university-wide event celebrating groundbreaking innovation and entrepreneurship, on Tuesday.
With this year's theme of Dreams Unbounded: From Ideas to Global Solutions, the event aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, assist the development of start-ups, and transform scientific research results into practical applications.
The event showcased over 40 edging innovations, including the launch of Hong Kong's first Dental Incubation Program and explored the future of dental technology.
Jin Lijian, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, introduced that the program is creating a collaborative platform that brings together the world's top dental research teams and start-ups, assisting dental-related enterprises in implementing their research results in Hong Kong.
