The incident occurred at around 8:09pm on May 24 when the tower’s safety mechanism was triggered, prompting an immediate halt to operations.
Following standard safety protocols, ride operators assisted all 17 passengers in exiting through the tower’s central safety passage.
By 9:56pm, all guests had safely returned to the ground.
Ocean Park said it had reported the incident to the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and announced the attraction would remain closed until further notice.
Standing 72 meters high and situated 200 meters above sea level, Ocean Park Tower offers panoramic views of the South China Sea, Aberdeen, and outlying islands from its gently rotating observation deck, according to the park’s website.
