Hang Seng Index exceeds 26,000 points on Monday morning trading session

The Hang Seng Index opened higher on the first day of trading in May.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 361 points, or 1.17 percent, to 26,138 points.

Tech gauge increased by 1.6 percent to 4,948 points.

Among the blue chips, Baidu (9888) was up 3.62 percent, CATL (3750) rose 3.12 percent, NetEase (9999) rose 3.13 percent, and Alibaba (9988) rose 2.2 percent.

HSBC (0005) rose 2.8 percent before Tuesday's announcement of the first quarter financial results.
