YMCA Christian Academy (YCA) is a unique community-oriented private primary school on Hong Kong Island offering a vibrant, future-ready curriculum. “We are blessed with a connected community, amazing parents and student body. The majority of our new students join YCA through parent referrals” says Geoff Blaik, Principal. Accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), it represents our high standards in our international education and commitment to continuous improvements in providing children with an outstanding and future-focused education.

Following the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and UK National Curriculum, students engage in thematic and creative units that provide a structured learning process along with specific educational objectives for each subject. These units are designed to capture students’ interest and foster learner agency, equipping them with the skills to take charge of their own educational journey. Students learn how to be agents, taking ownership of their learning and development, maintaining a curious and reflective posture. We focus on the development of the whole child so that every student will grow and thrive academically, physically, spiritually, and socially. For this to happen, we maintain a nurturing learning environment and offer a range of support for students’ wellbeing and pastoral care.
We offer a holistic, child-centred approach. Using the best of both the Jigsaw PSHE programme (UK) and Positive Education Enhanced Curriculum (Australia), we help students develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to thrive as an individual, a family member, and as part of the wider community. “Children who can understand and manage their emotions are more likely to express themselves calmly and in an appropriate way,” says Mr. Blaik. Wellbeing-focused teaching aims to help students understand themselves as learners and to develop self-awareness and personal, social and emotional skills. Our students are able to identify their emotions and use strategies to help them regulate and solve problems together.

YCA recognises that every student is unique. The school’s inclusive ethos ensures that no student feels alone or defeated for needing support. YCA actively creates opportunities for peer group interventions, where students with similar needs can support each other. Open communication is encouraged, so students feel safe to ask for assistance without fear of judgment. We do not force inclusion at our school, but it is done through mutual respect and understanding between students as well as with teachers and staff.
YCA is currently accepting applications for Year 1 to Year 5 for the current academic year. Families who are interested in applying for 2026-27, applications will open on 1 September to 31 October. We would like to invite you to come see the school in action at our upcoming Open Day on 27 September 2025. You will have the opportunity to meet our student ambassadors, the Senior Leadership Team, and our teachers, and to discover why YCA is an exceptional environment for children to thrive.
