Macau Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai announced in the Policy Address on Tuesday that eligible permanent residents will receive MOP 10,000, while non-permanent residents will get MOP 6,000.
Meanwhile, an additional MOP 7,000 will continue to go into each account associated with non-mandatory central provident funds. MOP 700 worth of medical vouchers will also be given to each eligible recipient.
In addition, the Subsidy for Senior Citizens remained MOP 10,000 and pension maintained MOP 3,900, while Marriage Allowance increased to MOP 4,000 for each one of a couple to support marriage rates.
For other adjustments, jobless benefits for locals rise to MOP 210 per day, and ill allowance will increase to MOP 180 daily for outpatients, while inpatients will receive MOP 240 per day.
Macau residents will be provided with a subsidy of up to MOP 1,000 in the basic medical insurance scheme in mainland China, and the insurance coverage is expanding to cover Guangdong and Fujian provinces.
This marks the second policy address in Sam's tenure, starting from 2024. He followed the tradition of distributing cash that originated from the first CE Edmund Ho Hau-wah in 2008.
Sam added that the government will strengthen the regional tourism cooperation, establish multi-stop cross-border routes and strive to promote Hengqin as a world-class tourism and resort location.
He said authorities will also boost the development of local catering businesses through night markets, carnivals, and other activities.
