Macau confirms Sam Hou-fai as sole candidate for CE election

Macau's Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election confirmed that former top judge Sam Hou-fai was the sole accepted candidate for the Chief Executive election.

The notice released on Wednesday included the list of 386 election committee members that had nominated Sam. 

The EAC said it completed an eligibility review yesterday for the only application received for becoming a candidate for the post of Chief Executive, in which the Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Macao Special Administrative Region assessed and affirmed the nominated individual.

The election will be held on October 13.

EAC added that if no objections are received, it will issue a notice announcing the final list of the accepted candidate for the Chief Executive election on Friday (Sep 20).
