Eight flights from HK to Shanghai canceled as Typhoon Bebinca nears

All of the flights from Hong Kong departing for Shanghai after 5 pm on Sunday have been canceled, while some from Shanghai traveling to the city have been axed as Typhoon Bebinca approaches.

According to the Airport Authority, eight flights traveling to Pudong or Hongqiao have been canceled. Four flights arriving from Shanghai have been canceled as of 2 pm.

The Hong Kong Observatory said Bebinca was centered about 500 kilometers east-southeast of Shanghai at noon and was forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 22 kilometers per hour across the East China Sea and edge closer to the coast of eastern China.

It was noted that Bebinca would then move inland and weaken gradually.
