Writing in his blog, the transport chief said the Transport Department, together with public transportation operators, has made preparations for the first school day.
The Transport Department's Emergency Traffic Coordination Centre will monitor road traffic and public transport services on the day, said Lam.
The Transport Department has also reminded local bus operators connecting to land border control points and cross-boundary bus service operators to pay attention to passenger volumes and operational conditions, ensuring sufficient services for cross-border students.
Meanwhile, the department will dispatch officials to busy school areas, including Kowloon Tong, Po Kong Village Road, Kwai Shing Circuit, and Braemar Hill, to help liaise with public transportation operators for additional services when required.
