Leung said he came across the endowment -- Bright Future Scholarship -- during work last year and was inspired by the strength and gratitude of the scholarship recipients.
The Scholarship aims to help students from underprivileged backgrounds purchase training equipment or study-related items to pursue their dreams.
Leung hopes his involvement can raise more awareness and support for needy children and youth.
The Scholarship has benefited 190 children with chronic illnesses or from underprivileged backgrounds this year.
Another scholarship under HKPS also awarded 20 students with excellent achievements. Over half of them are children with chronic conditions or from low-income families, with 45 percent having special educational needs.
One of the grant recipients, 16-year-old Luk, has had type 1 diabetes since he was six. Despite challenges, Luk persevered and won numerous international fencing awards for Hong Kong. He plans to use the scholarship funds to purchase medical equipment and fencing gear to support his athletic pursuits.
