The historic gold won by fencer Vivian Kong Man-wai in the women's individual Épée at the Paris Olympics has elated the city and led some corporations to provide awards in celebrations.

Citizens who watched the match said they were very excited by the game and the result, adding that they could not sleep after the dramatic comeback made by Kong and would continue to support local athletes at other events.
One praised Kong's effort and stated that her resilience is a source of pride for Hong Kong people.
Some were elated by the results, stating that although they missed the live match, they specifically rewatched it in the morning.
They also encouraged other local athletes to keep a strong mentality and perform as usual to aim for their goals in the Olympics.
Kong studied for a Doctor of Law at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Vice-chancellor Rocky Tuan Sung-chi congratulated Kong on her excellent result.
