Xia meets with legal professionals and media representatives on the fourth day of HK visit

Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office director Xia Baolong attended gatherings with senior members of local media organizations and professionals from the legal sector on Sunday.

Xia met with the Bar Association chairman Victor Dawes, Law Society of Hong Kong president Chan Chak-ming, and other legal professionals at the government headquarters in the afternoon. A wide range of topics – including the legislation of Article 23 - were discussed at the meeting. 

The legal sector said Xia indicated that Beijing attached great importance to their opinion, and demonstrated the central government's recognition of Hong Kong upholding the rule of law.

Xia also gathered with the top-notch members of media organizations – including the Sing Tao News Corporation's chief executive officer Cai Jin - at the Central Government Offices to exchange their views on the development of the media industry.

The top Beijing official in charge of the city's affairs then visited the police headquarters in Wan Chai on the fourth day of his weeklong visit.

He will conclude his inspection tour on Wednesday (Feb 28).
