More AEDs installed at bus regulators’ kiosks in various districts

Citizens now have immediate access to automated external defibrillators (AED) at some bus regulators’ kiosks in various districts under the AED Everywhere program, launched by the Fire Services Department and funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. 

At the launching ceremony on Saturday, Deputy Director of Fire Services (Operations) Angus Wong Chun-yip expressed his gratitude to KMB, Citybus, and New Lantau Bus for supporting the program and becoming the first batch of subvented organizations. 

Wong also said that the department is inviting other organizations and institutions to participate in the program, with an aim to fulfil their social responsibilities and to expand the coverage of AEDs in the community. 

The department is currently identifying other feasible locations, such as banking branches and gas stations, and encouraging as well as sponsoring related organizations or institutions to install the AEDs. 

The AED Everywhere - Bus Companies United to Save Hearts event attracted over 500 participants today. 

Some 200 bus enthusiasts and bus company staff members also attended a workshop on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an AED and had the opportunity of becoming a member of the Resuscitation Alliance. 

According to the department, there are currently about 2,700 AEDs registered on the department's online information platform “Centralized AED Registry for Emergency”. 

These AEDs are distributed in various public places such as railway stations, shopping malls, schools, fire stations, ambulance depots, sports centers, libraries, supermarkets and community halls.
