Cathay Pacific is set to launch another round of "I Can Fly Programme" to recruit around 300 students passionate about aviation to embark on a five-month-long unique journey combining aviation know-how and social service for the youth to reach their dreams.
The young participants will be given the chance to visit various aviation facilities, go through aviation-related training, participate in team-building activities, and design and implement their own social service programs for community groups.
Cathay pilots and employee volunteers will also share their experiences and knowledge of the industry with the participants.
At the end of the program, selected members get the opportunity to take part in an aviation experiential trip to explore different aspects of aviation further and interact with people from various cultures.
Full-time secondary school students aged 14 to 18 could sign up for the program on or before November 7 this year.
Launched in January 2003, the program actively recruits Hong Kong students with a passion for aviation and a commitment to community service. Thousands of participants have since taken up careers within the Hong Kong aviation industry after graduating from the program.
The program has also been adopted by many of the airline's local teams – in the Mainland, Canada, the USA and Thailand, for example – to nurture an enthusiasm for aviation among young people worldwide.
