Body of missing foreign hiker found after overnight search

Rescuers have found the body of a solo hiker on a Mid-Levels hillside Thursday morning after an overnight search.

The foreign man was said to have gone hiking alone at The Peak yesterday. His family lost contact around midnight, police said.

Hong Kong Police suspected the missing man was located near Conduit Road after triangulating his mobile phone.

Firefighters searched the area overnight and found the man lying unconscious on a hillside near Old Peak Road this morning at around 8 am. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police suspected that the man had lost his footing and had fallen down the slope during his hike.

The investigation is ongoing.
