(Central Station) Care for a lobster dinner? You may need HK$1 million

What makes a millionaire’s dinner? Well, it’s probably the typo. A photo recently circulated online and showed a restaurant receipt that charged over HK$1 million for a seafood dinner, which included two Australian lobsters that cost more than HK$900,000. 

The photo was first uploaded to mainland social media xiaohongshu and later shared on Facebook by netizens. 

According to the photo of the receipt, the two Australian lobsters alone cost HK$936,936. Including other dishes, the 10 percent service charge was already a shocking HK$93,848.2. The total sum of the dinner, as shown, was HK$1,032,332.2. 

Netizens were shocked to see this. Some found it funny, while others questioned that the waiter probably mistakenly entered the value of the lobster twice, leading to the six-digit value of the item. 

That netizen later confirmed on xiaohongshu that the seven-digit bill was a mistake and their dinner for six cost about HK$2,600. 

In reply to media inquiries, the Chinese restaurant in Tsuen Wan said their staffer made a mistake when printing the receipt on Friday night. They immediately printed the correct one for the customer. 

The restaurant stressed they charge HK$468 for each lobster and joked: “How dare we charge our customers over a million dollars!”
