Macau implemented a “7+3” medical observation policy for inbound travelers from Hong Kong, Taiwan, or other international locations on Saturday.
With effect from Aug 6, the concerned individuals will be quarantined for a shorter seven-day period at the designated hotels instead of 10 days if they test negative for Covid-19 upon entry into Macau.
After the seven days of medical observation, they must undergo self-health management for three more days and self-health monitoring afterward, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre of Macau.
During the periods of self-health management and self-health monitoring, they must generate the Macau Health Code using the same identification document that has been presented for entry clearance and medical observation and undergo a total of five nucleic acid tests.
The Macau Health Code will remain yellow until the NAT on the 3rd day from the day following release from medical observation returns as negative; after that, the Health Code will turn green.
Traveling to the mainland via Macau is prohibited before the Macau Health Code turns green.
If nucleic acid testing is not conducted on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd days from release from medical observation, the Macau Health Code will be converted to red, authorities said.
If found positive for Covid-19 by nucleic acid test upon entry or during quarantine in hotels, the individual concerned shall be subject to centralized isolation at least until the 10th day from the day after the entry.
